Two Medicine Lake is located outside of East Glacier, Montana.  The name comes from when Glacier became a national park.  Remains of two medicine lodges from the Blackfoot Indians were found on the shore of the lake.  You will find hiking trails, a general store, boat tours, and kayak rentals at Two Medicine.

Hiking

We utilize AllTrails before heading out on our hikes. It is a great way to see the difficulty of hikes and you can grab directions that will take you right to the trailhead.

Running Eagle Falls

This is an easy .6-mile loop trail with only 26 ft elevation gain.  Running Eagle Falls trail is a great little hike to a gorgeous waterfall.  This is one of two trails at Glacier Park that is handicap accessible.  You will cross a footbridge that leads to a viewing platform.  There are paths after the platform that will allow you closer access to the falls.

Paradise Point

This is a 1.4 mile out and back trail with about 160 ft in elevation gain.  You access this from the South Shore Trail.  We found this to be a great spot to sit and have lunch while enjoying the view of the Lake.

Astor Falls

After we finished our lunch, we headed to Astor Falls.  This is less than a mile from Paradise Point.  There are some great spots to just sit and take in the beauty of the falls.

General Store

Two Medicine General Store is a wonderful place to pick up some souvenirs.  If you fail to pack a lunch, you will find a small cafe in the back that serves food.  You can sit at one of the tables inside that offer a view of the lake.  Outside you will find plenty of restrooms to use before heading out on your adventure!

Other Activities

  • Watercraft Rentals – offered on a first come first serve basis.  You can rent single kayaks, double kayaks, canoes, rowboats, & motorboats by the hour
  • Boat Tour – reservations, prices, and schedule can be found here

What To Bring

We definitely recommend spending a day in Two Medicine during your trip to Glacier.  It is over an hour away from the main part of Glacier, so definitely head out early.  On your trek back, make sure you stop and check out Big Martha, the world’s largest purple spoon!  Also grab some delicious Huckleberry ice cream at Brownie’s Grocery after you check it out.
